“I like the Windows based emulators because they are faster internally than HTML5/Javascript ones and this means I’m not having to trade-off the best implementation for what I can fit in a Javascript timeslice. I think I’ve done a pretty good job in both cases – but it was a lot easier to do with native code. The other good thing about Windows-based emulators is you have direct access to the file system. This makes it a lot easier to save and load files. For a HP-67 emulation, that means reading and writing magnetic cards as real files. You can copy the files, move them around, email them elsewhere; and so on. In the HTML5 emulators, I’ve done the best I can to make cards shareable. Again, I think I’ve done pretty well; but it still isn’t quite as easy as direct access to a real file. The downside of course is that Windows based emulators only run on Windows. I hope you like this emulator and the matching HP29w one” – the developer.
Downloading & Installing
You can download a copy by clicking the button below. It is a ZIP file so the process is:
– download it
– unZIP it anywhere you want
– double-click “run.bat”
Buying a copy
If you buy a copy, there are a number of benefits for us all:
– you get to use the program forever
– you get all later versions for free
– I get some money to cover development costs for this and other software
– the creation of future software is funded
If you don’t throw a few dollars into the pot, you’ll still get to use the program but it will stop working after 90 days. That is a lot longer than the usual 30 days because I do want you to try it, and I do think you’ll enjoy it. I also like to think that you’ll want to support it.
If you’ve tried it and do want to keep it forever, you can get an activation key below. You can buy 2 copies if you want to contribute more. 🙂
PayPal, HP-67w, USD $5
More Information
This is part of the HP67 topic. There’s more information about the calculator there.
If you want to know more about the emulator, you could start with using the windows calculators. There is (now) also a copy of the manual online. That is HP67w Help (pdf). Of course, the easiest way to find out about something is to download it and try it.
